… something’s missing…

This was one of my first explorations in something without form, shape, or purpose. I just picked colors i was feeling and found other colors that looked good with them, and here we are.

I don’t know if I can fully express what my intentions / feelings were but here’s a go.

Watching the horizon i saw a beautiful coastline with water rushing against the sand.

there is a distinct shape and purpose to the water but it is partially unknowable to me.

the sands take up a weird proportion of my peripheral, yet i am unable to find a better fit to the frame. there is not much else to see.

I look to the sky for clarity and find clouds that fade into the background- … are those grey rainclouds forming? or is it just their shadow?

the water feels so turbulent, purposeful and pointed as if impatiently waiting for something to arrive from the east (this perspective is facing southward.) a fleet of ships, a monster, a lighthouse, a whale, the reflection of the sky, anything. but nothing comes and the waves keep their move on their own. they show no sign of stopping.

the sand bleeds slowly into the water giving clear warning of shallow shores. perhaps this is why there are no ships.

the coastline also feels oddly shaped. in contrast to the water which is flowing, active, chaotic. the sand is sterile and stoic. the green grows parallel to the plane of the horizon and its potential is predisposed by the sand. can the sand ever know how much power it holds over the green? can the water ever know what it does to the sand? no answers seem to come from the east yet still.
